Carter became passionate about sports broadcasting his freshman year at Bethany Lutheran College when he was chosen as Color Commentator for College Hockey Weekend–the official broadcast of Minnesota State, Mankato Men's Hockey. In addition to calling games with a viewership between 5 and 12 Million, he produced, wrote, and edited packages for the intermission show, and wrote and recorded pre-game teases.

From 2014-2015, Carter interned at Sic 'Em Sports Productions within Baylor Athletics. Serving as the Lead for the News Team.  His duties included: shooting, editing, creating story ideas, and assisting subordinate news interns. In his time with Baylor he has worked multiple National Championships, Big 12 Championships, and the Inaugural "New Years Six" Cotton Bowl Classic. He continues to freelance for Baylor Athletics today.

Since graduating Carter has worked for HGTV's Fixer Upper, served as the Visual Director for E2 Creative Design+Build, and freelanced (click for recent photos and videos).

He is currently in the fifth year of production on "The Road To The Show" a documentary that follows an elite hockey player on his journey from Minnesota high school hockey to the NHL.
